The Strategy & Investment Directorate is responsible for:

• Leading policy development on all modes of transport for which Transport Scotland is responsible
• Co-ordinating wider policy development with the Scottish Government 
• Project appraisal guidance (STAG) and analysis
• Developing the Transport Model for Scotland (TMfS)
• Advising on rail, public transport and trunk road policy within the strategic priorities set out by Scottish Ministers and the National Transport Strategy
• Advising on the investment priorities for rail and trunk road networks for the next ten years
• Representing Scotland at a UK level of wider rail issues
•  Managing Scotland's first strategic projects review covering all modes of transport
