Accessibility Statement

Transport Scotland is committed to producing websites and web resources that can be accessed by all users.

This page describes some of the features that have been incorporated into this site.

We are working hard to ensure that almost all our publicly available pages produced on Transport Scotland's website will conform to at least World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) AA standard.

Current Standards Compliance

  • The majority of pages on this site comply with all priority 1 and 2 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  • The majority of stylesheets used to control layout and presentation of the pages on this site validate to the W3C CSS standard.

Text Size

If you need to change the size of the text on the page, most Internet browsers will allow users to change the font size.  However when changing your browser settings, keep this information in mind:

  • Bigger text means less information on the screen at any one time and more scrolling.
  • You may need to click on the 'Refresh' or 'Reload' button for changes to take effect.
how to change the settings of the following browsers:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and 6

1. From the menu bar at the top, pull down the 'View' menu.
2. Select 'Text Size'.
3. There are five choices, ranging from the smallest to the largest.
4. Choose a font size from the options listed.
5. Click on the new font style.
6. Some experimentation is necessary.

 Links

Links have title attributes that describe the link in greater detail.

Images

All content images should include descriptive ALT attributes.  Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.

Visual Design

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
Public areas of this site use only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified 'text size' option in visual browsers.
If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets the content of each page is still readable.

Documents

Many of the documents in this site are PDFs and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view, which is available as a free Download.
