About statistics
Transport Scotland produces a wide range of publications providing statistics on transport and travel.
Statistics are available on: buses, rail, air and ferry passengers; cars, lorries, traffic and accidents; walking and cycling; travel to work and school; freight and other aspects of transport.
Data sources and methodology
It is important to understand the background and methodology to the statistics so that they are used correctly. Information for the data sources used to produce the statistics can be found in the Data sources and methodology section.
You can browse our Publications and datasets section for specific information, or use the High level summaries for an overview of key statistics by theme and details of where to find further data. If you are looking for a compendium of transport and travel related statistics then you may find Scottish Transport Statistics useful.
Geographical breakdowns are available for most statistics. This information is being added by theme to the High level summaries section.
News
News releases for statistics publications issued prior to 20 October 2011 are available on the Scottish Government website. News releases for publications released after this are on our website.
