A sample copy of the Concessionary Travel card appears below. Details of its constituent parts are also given.
The large 'C' symbol indicates that you are entitled to Scotland-wide free bus travel. Only cards with the 'C' are valid for free bus travel.

Some cards will have other symbols beside the large C. These symbols will be on the bottom right hand corner of the card and will look like this:
If your card has this symbol this indicates to you and to the driver that you are entitled to have a companion travel free with you on your journey. The companion can only travel when you are travelling and cannot travel for free without you. This symbol gives you the option to have a companion with you but you are also allowed to travel independently if you wish.
This symbol means that the card holder is blind or partially sighted and is also entitled to the National Blind Scheme Concessions.
The green 'L' symbol (or orange 'S' as shown on the sample card) are there to indicate that you may be entitled to other concessions in your local area. To find out if other concessions are available to you, contact your Local Authority or SPT (if you live in the Strathclyde area), details can be found on the reverse of your National Entitlement Card.
Can I download an application form from the Transport Scotland website?
Each application form is individually bar coded and contains an adhesive strip for you to secure your photograph to. For this reason, application forms cannot be downloaded and printed from the Transport Scotland website.
