New footbridge being moved into place
The new Harthill footbridge is now in place. Pedestrians and cyclists are now able to use the new footbridge.
In the near future the temporary bus stops will be removed and the buses will return to their original routes through the service area.
The commissioning ceremony wil take place later in November.
The new bridge was moved into place on Friday evening, 3 October by Britain's largest mobile crane, see news release.
The bridge meet all relevant guidelines so that it is accessible to all users. It is an impressive landmark structure which will further enhance and encourage the use of the new development.

Recently, the service area on the M8 Edinburgh to Glasgow Motorway at Harthill has been extensively redeveloped to provide two new service stations and a local public transport interchange. Bus services to Glasgow and Edinburgh are provided on both sides of the motorway, with access to car parking from Miller Street, Harthill.
Harthill was the first service station to be built in Scotland following the completion of the M8 in 1965.
