This project will widen the single track length of A830 between Arisaig and Loch nan Uamh to allow for two-way traffic
The result will be improved and more reliable journeys, and improvements in road safety.
Traffic management will be required involving various road closures to allow for the safe excavation of rock adjacent to the exiting road.
Following a competitive tendering process, The Highland Council as agent to Transport Scotland awarded in March 2007 the Design and Construct Contract for the A830 Arisaig to Loch nan Uamh Improvement to Morrison Construction Services Ltd.
The Arisaig project is a partnership project between Transport Scotland, the Highland Council, and the European Union.
