  • A830 Dearg Bridge Replacement

    In Preparation

    This is a scheme to replace the existing life expired A830 Dearg Bridge over the Dearg watercourse 4 mile west of Glenfinnan. The bridge works will be delivered by Transport Scotland’s Operating Company BEAR Scotland Ltd. Work will commence on 7th July 2014 for a period of 6 months.

  • A898 Erskine Bridge Lighting and Electrical Refurbishment

    What's involved?

    This project will see the refurbishment of the original lighting and electrical systems associated with the bridge. The works will take place in summer 2015 over a 17 week period and involve:

  • A720 Sheriffhall Roundabout

    Sheriffhall Roundabout is a key junction on the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass and connects to six A-class roads of local and regional importance, namely the A7 (north), the A6106 Millerhill Road, A720 (East), the A6106 Old Dalkeith Road, A7 (south), and A720 (west).

  • A9/A96 Connections Study

    The A9 / A96 Connections Study is looking at the problems, opportunities and issues concerning traffic travelling between Inshes, Raigmore and Longman junctions in Inverness in an effort to develop a potential solution to the congestion and journey time reliability issues that exist at these key junctions.

  • A9 Berriedale Braes improvement scheme

    In Preparation

    This scheme is on the A9 in Caithness, north of Helmsdale and south of Dunbeath and its purpose is to remove the hairpin bend and improve the alignment.

  • A82 Wellington Lay-By Allt Cumhang Wall

    In Preparation

    This lay-by is a popular stopping point for tourist traffic providing drivers with a convenient location from which to view the Loch Ness.  These improvements will allow the lay-by to be fully re-opened to traffic and ensure its long term durability.  A feasibility study is underway to determine the best solution.

  • A9 Clunie Bridge deck refurbishment

    Complete

    During 2012 Transport Scotland carried out essential repairs to the A9 Clunie Bridge. The bridge was refurbished to current standards, offering improved safety for trunk road users. The improvements ensured its future durability.

  • A9 Portgower Mill Bridge replacement

    Complete

    Contractors are replacing the existing structures with a single span bridge, designed to modern standards. The works include localised road widening.

  • EGIP

    The Edinburgh Glasgow Rail Improvement Programme (EGIP) is a comprehensive programme of improvements to Scotland’s railway infrastructure, rolling stock and service provision, which will provide a major boost to the wealth of Scotland and its long term economic sustainability.

  • Borders Railway

    Under Construction

    The Borders Railway will re-establish passenger railway services, for the first time since 1969, from Edinburgh through Midlothian to Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders.

  • Highland Main Line

    Under Construction

    Upgrading the Highland Mainline is one of the Scottish Government’s key priorities.  The long-term goal of the project seeks to achieve a fastest journey time of 2 hours 45 minutes between Inverness and the Central Belt with an average journey time of 3 hours and an hourly service by 2025.

  • A9 Cromarty Bridge refurbishment

    Under Construction

    Transport Scotland will be carrying out this essential work over a number of years in order to ensure the bridges continued service in the Highlands.
