Outline of the proposed route
- 35 miles (49 km) of new passenger railway
- Approx 50% double track
- 10 stops
- 7 new stations to be built
- 1/2 hourly service at peak times
- Travel direct from Tweedbank to Edinburgh Waverley in 55 minutes (or less)
- Ancillary work starting 2010, main construction work 2011, completion 2014
- Fully integrated to the main railway network
