2 February 2008

The excavation of the Lower English Buildings is nearing completion, with Structure 1 and the western end of the North Range (Structure 7) completely excavated. The team continue to excavate Structure 6, the westernmost circular feature, and the westernmost structure of the South Range and the remainder of the North Range.

After this week the team will start work on the surfaces, structures and deposits in the central area between the North and South Ranges. The combination of heavy clay soils and the weather, which was wet for the majority of the week, made working conditions particularly difficult.
