Crossing - Main Structure
Work on the new bridge deck
is continuing on the north side of the Forth Estuary. The bridge deck
is being constructed in sections which are then pushed out over the
piers. In total there will be 26 deck spans, generally of 45m
lengths, with three larger spans required for marine navigation
purposes in the centre of the bridge. Of the 26 deck spans, seven have
now been constructed with the eighth currently under construction.
Bowtrees Interchange
A
new interchange is under construction at Bowtrees Roundabout. It will
take the new M876 / A876 over the A905 road. The work at this location
is progressing well. Steel beams will be craned into position for the
bridge deck and this is likely to be carried out in June 2007.
Earthworks are progressing well and carriageway construction is underway for the new section of carriageway at the A905.
The Stirling – Alloa – Kincardine Railway Bridge
The
bridge at this location is also progressing well with the steel beams
already in place for the bridge deck. This bridge is due to be complete
prior to the intended opening of the railway.
A977 North Tie-in at Kilbagie / Gartarry
Roadworks
activities at the A977 north tie-in will become more visible in the
next few weeks as the works progress to construct the new roundabout at
Kilbagie (see traffic management section for planned dates for tie-ins).
