Construction Progress November 2007
Upper Forth Crossing
Construction of the new Upper Forth Crossing bridge has continued to make steady progress. All the marine piers are now complete and construction of the remaining four land-based piers on the south shore is ongoing. The bridge deck is being constructed in sections which are then pushed out over these piers. Of the 26 spans, 18 are now complete.
Other Structures
There are four smaller bridges being constructed. The overbridges at Bowtrees roundabout and at the Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine railway are nearing completion and foundation construction has commenced on the accommodation bridge at Halls of Airth and at Carse Road bridge.
Road Works
Works are progressing well at Bowtrees Interchange with three out of the four slip roads now complete. The side road which joins the Pine ‘N’ Oak car park to the A905 south roundabout at Bowtrees is also substantially complete.
Construction of the new westbound carriageway of the A876 has commenced and a significant section of road pavement has now been laid.
The new roundabout at Kilbagie was partially opened to traffic on 20th August 2007 under a temporary traffic management scheme.
The favourable weather conditions have also allowed carriageway construction to commence north of Carse Road.
