Waverley Steps
The Waverley Steps provide covered access to the Edinburgh station. New escalators, lifts and stairs give travellers a quick route to platforms and into the heart of the city.
Around 14,000 passengers use the Princes Street entrance each day. The new Waverley steps creates crucial, accessible access for these passengers under the shelter of weather-proof glass. Buggies, bikes, wheelchairs, mobility scooters and those with heavy luggage have use of the 16-person lifts while other passengers have well-lit, covered step and escalator access between Princes Street and the north entrance to Waverley station.
Transport Scotland worked in partnership with Network Rail and their contractor Morgan Sindall to successfully complete these significant works.
