The Scottish Rail Strategy Steering Group is a single, multi-party group that oversees all work done on rail strategy.
Members include officials from:
- Transport Scotland
- Network Rail
- First ScotRail
- Office of Rail Regulation
The Steering Group meets once every four to six weeks. Its remit is to ensure maximum co-ordination and synergy of all rail planning work being undertaken in the coming year by all parties in Scotland.
The Steering Group takes an overview of work in the following areas:
- Rail input into the National Transport Strategy
- Rail Strategy
- Scottish Planning Assessment
- Route Utilisation Strategy
The work of the Steering Group helps inform, and is informed by:
- Joint Performance Improvement Plan
- High Level Output Specification
- Franchise Variation
