Maintenance work carried out on the Scottish trunk road network is managed by the Operating Companies the value of the work undertaken determining how it is procured.
Under the present Operating Company contracts, work that is estimated to cost less than £150k can be done by the Operating Company or their in-house subcontractors as part of the contract. Works that are estimated to cost over this threshold are tendered so that the best value for money for construction is achieved (see Guidance on Procurement).
